Nursery – Arts: Making Carrot
As nursery students learned the story of Oliver Vegetables, they began to explore the names of different vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, and others. To extend this exploration, the students created a carrot using playdough. They followed several steps: first, they coloured a piece of paper with crayons, then they used the fringe-cutting technique to make the carrot leaves. After that, the students kneaded the playdough to shape a carrot and attached the fringed paper as the leaves.
Through these activities, the children not only enhanced their knowledge about vegetables but also developed their creativity by designing their own carrot. As they explored the dough, they engaged their sense of touch and strengthened their finger muscles. Additionally, colouring with crayons and cutting paper supported the development of their fine motor skills.
