Nursery – Arts: Colourful flowers
Nursery students explored the world of minibeasts, especially butterflies and bees that like to visit flowers to collect sweet nectar. Through this discussion, students began to understand the relationship between minibeast (butterflies and bees) and flowers in nature.
After the exploration, students were challenged to create colourful flowers. They carefully cut the leaf patterns, coloured the leaves and flower petals using colour pencils, and then pasted the flowers onto ice cream sticks to make their own flower craft.
This activity helps students develop their fine motor skills, such as cutting, colouring, and pasting. It also encourages creativity, concentration, and hand–eye coordination. These skills are beneficial for students now, as they practice focus, creativity, and coordination in completing tasks. In the future, these experiences support their ability to follow instructions, solve problems, and build confidence in expressing their ideas through creative work.
