Nursery – Arts: Buzzing Bee Craft

Nursery students enjoyed a fun and creative art activity by making a bee craft. Before starting the activity, students also learned about bee characteristics, such as bees having yellow and black stripes, wings, and antennae. This helped students understand how bees look in real life.

During the activity, students first crumpled black wax paper to create the bee’s stripes. Then, they drew simple eyes and a mouth to make their bee look lively. After that, the students painted the provided paper plate to form the bee’s body. Once the paint was ready, they pasted the crumpled wax papers onto the plate and added antennae made from pipe cleaners to complete their bee craft.

Through this activity, students practiced many important skills. Crumpling, painting, drawing, and pasting helped develop their fine motor skills, hand strength, and hand-eye coordination. Students also learned to follow steps, observe bee characteristics, and express their creativity while making their own bee artwork.

These experiences support students’ development now by improving their focus, creativity, and confidence in completing a task. In the future, these skills will help them with writing readiness, problem-solving, and creative thinking, which are important for their learning journey.
