Early Years Program – PL Safe Touch: My Body is Special
EY1 and EY2 students recently joined a gentle, age-appropriate workshop on body safety with Miss Desy Bulkaini, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist from Rumah Sakit JIH Solo. Using clear and simple words, she named private parts and explained that these are like treasures that must be protected. Only parents, or a doctor with a parent present, hold the “golden key” to touch these treasures, while strangers with a “rusty, dangerous key” must be kept away.
The children also learnt to listen to their feelings. If a touch makes them feel scared, worried, or uncomfortable, it is not safe. Miss Desy taught a short and memorable response: “Say no, run away, and tell an adult you trust.” Through songs and roleplay, students practised saying no firmly, stepping back, and asking for help. Their curiosity also shone through as they asked questions about safe and unsafe touches they often encounter while playing, as well as how to stay safe in the toilet.
This important session provided knowledge and practice that strengthen self-protection. By learning about safe and unsafe touches in a supportive way, children gained both confidence and autonomy, helping them build strong defences against the risk of sexual abuse. ***
