Early Year 2: Writing Postcard
EY2 students explored the role of a postman, learning about their uniform, the vehicles they use, and the post office where they work. Through this activity, students began to understand the postman’s job and how it has evolved, discovering that today’s post offices deliver not only letters but also packages.
To deepen their understanding, students practiced applying what they learned by creating and decorating their own postcards to send to their parents. This activity allowed them to explore the steps involved in mailing an item, from writing the postcard to adding personal touches.
As they prepared to send these postcards, students also discussed the importance of communication and how the postman connects people across distances. By participating in this interactive experience, students gained insight into the role of a postman and practiced social-emotional skills, like expressing thoughts to loved ones.
Next Monday, they will visit the post office to send their postcards, experiencing firsthand the mail process they learned about.
