Early Year 2 – Science: Liquids and Solids

EY2 students recently embarked on an exciting experiment to explore the differences between solids and liquids. As part of this hands-on activity, they poured colorful liquids into various containers and examined a range of classroom objects, observing how each material behaved. By transferring the liquids between containers and comparing them to solids, students were able to see firsthand how liquids take the shape of their containers, while solids retain their form.

Throughout the experiment, the students were encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and share their observations with classmates. They discussed the changes they noticed, such as how liquids flow and how solids remain fixed, which sparked deeper curiosity and understanding of these two states of matter.

This engaging, interactive approach not only solidified their knowledge of solids and liquids but also fostered critical thinking, communication skills, and a sense of wonder. The experiment helped bring abstract concepts to life, making learning both fun and meaningful for the students! ***
