Early Year 2 – Science & English: What to Wear on a Rainy Day

In the “Weather Wonders” theme, EY2 students explored different clothing and accessories for various weather conditions. They took part in an integrated lesson combining Science and English. The students predicted and tested which materials would keep animals dry by using them as roofs, eagerly spraying water to see the results.

They also connected the lesson to the story After the Storm and discussed other items that help protect the body and why they are useful. Then, they worked together to design raincoats using materials like plastic, paper, and fabric, selecting one person from their group to be the model. At the end, they presented their designs and explained why they chose their materials.

This activity helped students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Through discussions and presentations, they gained confidence in speaking and explaining their ideas. Working on projects like designing raincoats also encouraged teamwork and communication, essential skills for community life.
