Early Year 2: Reading Celebration
Today, EY2 students joyfully took part in the Reading Celebration, marking the highlight of their reading journey. Over the past few weeks, students have engaged in various reading stimulation activities where they shared stories from their chosen books and discussed what they enjoyed most about them. For the celebration, each class selected one storybook to transform into a role-play performance.
Students worked collaboratively to plan their roles, practised using expressive voices and gestures, and rehearsed several times to build confidence and fluency. On the performance day, EY2 students visited the Primary building to present their role-play stories in front of P1 students and teachers. They showed great excitement, focus, and confidence while performing for a new audience.
Following the performances, EY2 students listened attentively to P1 students’ presentations about their creative pop-up book projects. This meaningful exchange allowed EY2 students to make connections between storytelling, creativity, and reading comprehension.
It was truly a valuable learning experience that encouraged students to communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and develop a deeper appreciation for the joy of reading. Thank you, P1 students and teachers, for the warm welcome and the wonderful learning experience together! ***
