Early Year 2 – Outing Class Growing & Caring: Our Farm Adventure

EY2 students joined an outdoor learning visit to Taman Winasis (Managed by Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian Kota Surakarta) to learn about plants, farm animals, and fish in a simple and enjoyable way. They were divided into four small groups before exploring different areas of the farm.

At the beginning, students were introduced to some animals such as cows, chickens, and fish. They were then introduced to the benefits of these animals, for example how cows produce milk and chickens provide eggs and meat. The students were very excited to interact directly with the animals. They rubbed the cows’ head, fed the fish, and even gave live maggots to the chickens as the food.

The students also learnt about plants and had the opportunity to plant tomato seeds in polybags. This activity helped them understand how to care for plants and how they grow.

Through this experience, students are expected to gain knowledge while also developing their confidence and curiosity. In the long term, activities like this can help students become more independent, care more about the environment, and understand where their food comes from, supporting their daily lives.
