EY2 Students Embark on a Math Treasure Hunt Adventure

EY2 students set off on an exciting Treasure Hunt during their math lesson! Equipped with picture lists, the students explored the outdoor area to search for “lost” loose parts such as colourful bottle caps, ice cream sticks, pom-poms, and wooden blocks. As they collected the items, they matched them to the pictures on their list, counted how many they had found, and carefully wrote the numbers down.

Once all the treasures were gathered, the class worked together to check their totals and explain how they reached their answers. They then extended their learning by using the collected objects to measure items — and even their friends’ heights — inside the classroom.

This rich experience nurtured curiosity, perseverance, and teamwork, while helping students see how numbers and measurement connect to their everyday world. By analysing, explaining, and sharing their ideas, the students grew more confident as problem-solvers and explorers, building a strong foundation for approaching new challenges with creativity, courage, and joyful thinking. ***
