Early Year 2 – Maths: Measuring and Comparing Our Water Bottles

Our Early Years 2 mathematicians turned everyday water bottles into an exciting hands-on geometry and measurement lab!

Using wooden blocks as non-standard measuring units, students carefully lined up blocks from base to top—discovering firsthand why consistent sizing, zero gaps, and no overlaps are key to accurate measurement! After counting their block towers, the young mathematicians compared their data with classmates, arranging their bottles in order from shortest to tallest while explaining their reasoning using clear mathematical terms.

By transforming personal water bottles into real data points, EY2 built practical counting, ordering, and analytical skills while mastering consistent measurement methods!
