Early Year 2 – Maths: Measure the Buildings

In today’s activity, students measured famous buildings from around the world using fruits as units of measurement. The teacher showed pictures of the Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Taj Mahal, and Sydney Opera House. Each building was measured with a specific fruit, such as using apples to measure the Eiffel Tower’s height. The class was divided into four groups, with each group measuring one building at a time. Students worked together to place fruit pictures alongside the buildings to compare heights. This activity promoted collaboration, sharing, and using non-standard units, helping students engage in hands-on learning. ***
