Early Year 2 – Maths: Maze Play
EY2 students showed great enthusiasm in joining the math lesson through an interactive maze game. In this activity, they were challenged to solve a toy maze by guiding a marble toward specific numbers mentioned by the teacher. To make it even more engaging, the students had to collaborate with their friends to complete the mission successfully.
The activity began with students practicing their ability to recognise and identify number symbols. They listened attentively to the teacher’s instructions and focused on locating the correct numbers within the maze. This strengthened their foundation in number recognition.
Next, the children applied their understanding by guiding the marble to the designated numbers. This step required accuracy, concentration, and simple strategies to navigate the maze. Their growing confidence was evident as they completed each challenge.
As the play continued, students worked together, shared ideas, and planned their moves to anticipate obstacles and choose the best path. In reflecting on the experience, they realised that just like in the maze, challenges in daily life can be overcome through cooperation, logical steps, and persistence. ***
