Early Year 2 – Maths: Feelings Board Game
This week, EY2 students started exploring the new theme “Healthy Habits.” As part of this journey, they learned about a variety of emotions such as angry, sad, happy, worried, and more. Being able to recognise their own feelings is an important step that helps children build empathy, manage themselves, and communicate more effectively with others.
To make the experience even more meaningful, these theme were connected with mathematics through a playful “Feelings Board Game”. In the game, children practiced recognising numbers up to 15, comparing which number is greater or smaller, and even discovered how “0” can be used to represent an empty set using wooden blocks.
Through this integrated activity, EY2 students not only strengthened their number sense but also developed the ability to recognise and express emotions. This combination supports both their cognitive growth and emotional intelligence, making learning a truly joyful and meaningful experience. ***
