Early Year 2 – English: This is My Tea
EY2 students learned about tea by exploring real tea leaves. The lesson started by showing dried tea leaves and brought them into a discussion like, “What is this?” and “Do you smell this?” The EY2 students looked closely, touched the leaves gently, and smelt them with curiosity. Many of them answered with simple words such as “tea” or “smell nice,”
Next, the EY2 students worked in groups. They used cold water and the other used warm water to make tea and they could even use tea bag as well. They followed the same steps and waited for five minutes. The students observed the colour and smell carefully. They noticed that the warm water made darker tea. Afterwards, they compared the results and shared simple sentences such as “I use cold water” and “My tea is darker.” Through this experience, the EY2 students developed observation skills, early scientific thinking, confidence in speaking, and a clearer understanding of pronouns and possession in meaningful context.
