Early Year 2 – English: Learning New Feelings Vocabulary Through Play
Our Early Years 2 students embarked on an emotional literacy adventure to master four new feelings vocabulary words: sleepy, relaxed, calm, and worried!
The excitement kicked off with interactive storytelling and group chats connecting these emotions to real life. The energy went sky-high during a game of “Pass the Pillow.” As the music stopped, the student holding the pillow read a target sight word, matched it to an emotion picture, and explained their choice to classmates. To wrap up, each child illustrated a feeling and wrote the corresponding word in their drawing books.
By combining storytelling, music, movement, and drawing, EY2 built sight word recognition, vocabulary confidence, and emotional awareness in a playful, memorable way!
