Early Year 2 – Arts: Minibeast Hotel
EY2 students had an exciting time creating their own Minibeast Hotels! They began by exploring the prepared materials and learning how each item—such as twigs, leaves, flannel, and crumpled wax paper—could be used. With growing confidence, the children thoughtfully arranged the materials around a paper bowl, carefully considering how to design a cosy and safe space for a minibeast.
Each student decorated and layered their items in a unique way, making every hotel beautifully personal. This open-ended activity nurtured fine motor skills, encouraged problem-solving, and supported personal expression. At the same time, it inspired care and curiosity for the small creatures that play an important role in nature.
Through this hands-on experience, students not only explored their creativity but also developed a deeper awareness of the environment and the importance of looking after living things. ***
