Early Year 2 – Arts: Making Fairy House
EY2 students enjoyed a magical art experience as they designed and created their own fairy houses and fairy characters. Through this activity, they explored their creativity while also developing important early learning skills.
The activity began with students drawing simple shapes such as windows and doors on a paper cup to design their fairy houses. After that, the students painted their creations using brushes. They explored different colours and brought their designs to life.
Next, the students created their fairy characters by threading colourful beads onto soft wire and adding wax paper wings. This part of the activity required focus, patience, and careful hand movements, helping students develop fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination.
Throughout the process, students were encouraged to imagine what a fairy might like in its home and make their own design choices. They decided where to place windows and doors, what colours to use, and how their fairy characters would look. These choices encouraged creative thinking, problem-solving, and independence as students explored their own ideas.
By the end of the session, every student proudly completed a unique fairy house and fairy character. The activity allowed them to express their imagination while developing concentration, perseverance, and confidence in creating something from their own ideas.
