Early Year 1 – Science: The Water Cycle

EY1 students participated in a science lesson that introduced them to the water cycle and the process of how rain is formed. Through engaging discussions and visuals, they learned key concepts about evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, laying the foundation for their understanding of this natural phenomenon.

To deepen their learning, students conducted a hands-on experiment to simulate the process of rain. Using foam to represent clouds, they carefully dropped colored water onto the foam and observed as the water gradually seeped through, mimicking rain falling to the ground. This interactive experiment allowed students to visualize and confirm their understanding of how rain is formed, linking their theoretical knowledge to real-world observations.

The activity encouraged students to develop their curiosity and inquiry skills as they observed and reflected on the changes happening during the experiment. By actively participating, they practiced asking questions, making predictions, and connecting their findings to the water cycle they had learned about.

This science activity successfully combined observation, experimentation, and discovery, fostering a deeper understanding of natural processes while building critical thinking skills in a fun and engaging way. ***
