Early Year 1 – Science: From Baby Care to Self-Care
As part of their “When I Was a Baby” unit, Early Years 1 students jumped into hands-on roleplay to discover why keeping our bodies clean matters!
After discussing how babies rely on adults for daily care, the classroom turned into a bustling family nursery. Pretending to be parents, the children used sponges and towels to “wash” dirty baby dolls clean. Next, they took on pretend germs using a giant mouth model, practicing proper toothbrushing techniques until every single tooth sparkled!
By caring for their “babies,” our young learners built empathy and fine motor skills while discovering that the healthy habits parents once did for them are routines they can now proudly do themselves!
