Early Year 1 – Science: Exploring ice

Our Early Years 1 scientists plunged into the chilly world of the Arctic habitat for an exciting, hands-on ice investigation!

Starting with a sensory discovery, students touched, felt, and described real ice, connecting its freezing temperature directly to the frosty polar environment. The excitement grew during a temperature experiment where students placed ice in warm and cool spots, predicting which would transform first. Eyes widened as they watched solid ice turn into liquid water, witnessing heat in action as the warm-environment ice melted in record time!

By predicting, observing, and comparing melting rates, EY1 built foundational scientific inquiry skills, cause-and-effect reasoning, and a cool curiosity for the natural world!
