Early Year 1 – Science: Balloon Rocket Experiment
EY 1 students had a fun experiment to make a balloon rocket by using a balloon, a straw, some string, and tape. First, they tied the string from one side of the room to the other. Then they put the straw on the string and taped the balloon to the straw. When they let go of the balloon — WHOOSH! — it zoomed along the string like a rocket.
Conducting a balloon rocket experiment is a fun and valuable way to introduce students to basic science concepts through hands-on learning. It helps them understand cause and effect, such as how the air escaping from the balloon creates a force that pushes it forward like a rocket. This simple activity sparks curiosity and encourages problem-solving. It also makes learning exciting and helps lay the foundation for a lifelong interest in science and discovery. ***
