Early Year 1 – Maths: Number Sequence
EY1 students enthusiastically learned about number sequences through an engaging activity that integrated Arts and Maths. The collaboration made learning more enjoyable and meaningful. Initially, students wrote numbers based on the teacher’s instruction, strengthening their number recognition skills. They then arranged the numbers from 1 to 10 to form the sunray shape. Students were later encouraged to experiment with forming their own patterns using different number sequences to enhance their creativity and ownership of learning.
Through this activity, students improved their fine motor skills by cutting, coloring, and pasting and developed listening skills and problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, they connected their learning to real-life contexts by discussing where number sequences appear in their environment and reflecting on why such skills are important. ***
