Early Year 1 – Maths: Dinosaur Footprints

Today, EY1 students embarked on a creative journey with dinosaur footprints, discovering colors, patterns, and new ways to express their creativity. By dipping dinosaur toys into paint and stamping them onto paper, they explored how footprints are formed. This playful activity helped them develop essential cognitive and fine motor skills while making learning fun!

Before starting, they revisited the footprints they had created in a previous lesson. By identifying and naming the colors (red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple, pink, black, white, brown, and grey) they reinforced their knowledge and built confidence in color recognition.

Excitement filled the air as each group received dinosaur toys and a variety of paint colors. They eagerly experimented, pressing the painted dinosaur feet onto paper and observing the unique prints left behind. Through this hands-on exploration, they engaged in creative expression while making scientific observations.

The challenge continued as they created patterns using their dinosaur footprints. Working together, they arranged footprints in a sequence, forming different patterns. This activity strengthened their logical thinking and problem-solving skills while also encouraging teamwork and collaboration.

Through this activity, the children engaged in more than just painting. They explored, experimented, and applied their knowledge in meaningful ways. Learning became an adventure that combined creativity, and math into one exciting experience.
