Early Year 1 – Learning Project: Polar Habitat
The EY1 students had carried out a 5-day learning project called “Polar Habitat”. Students started by learning about how animals often have adaptations that allow them to thrive in certain habitats. Students were encouraged to increase their curiosity by relating their previous science lessons about what makes the ice melt faster and how this affects the lives of polar animals.
They were also asked to create their polar habitat, which could be the safest home for the polar animals to live in, by making plans through navigating the ideas map. They were so excited to follow each of the steps in making the polar habitat. On the last day of the learning project, they were invited to present their “Polar Habitat” and also share their experiences during the process of making it.
This series of activities aimed to develop the students’ logical thinking, creativity and environmental awareness in a simple way. ***
