Early Year 1 – Learning Project: Dazzling Desert (Day 4)

Today was an exciting day for EY1 students as they finally brought their Dazzling Desert Dioramas to life! After days of planning and designing, it was time to turn their creative ideas into a real, tangible project. The day began with students painting the sky background for their dioramas, carefully choosing colours that matched the time of day they had chosen—whether it was a bright sunny day or a starry desert night with a glowing moon. Once the sky was set, students moved on to colouring, cutting, and arranging the elements of their desert scenes. From desert animals and cacti to Bedouin people and tents, each student added their own creative touches to their landscapes.

As part of the “Highlight and Revise” phase, students reflected on their work, reviewed the details, and decided if there was anything that needed improvement. Some added extra stars or adjusted plants to perfect their scenes. This hands-on project helps students build important skills like critical thinking, decision-making, creativity, and problem-solving—skills that will benefit them in the future by helping them think more independently, make confident choices, and approach challenges with confidence—all while having fun! ***
