Dazzling Desert: Day 3 – Navigating Ideas and Creating Prototypes (Part 1)

On Day 3 of our “Dazzling Desert” project, EY1 students made exciting progress in creating their desert dioramas. The day started with a collaborative brainstorming session. The teacher guided students to discuss key elements for their scenes, such as whether it would be day or night, which animals (lizards, camels, scorpions, etc.) and plants (cacti, palms) to include, and whether to add features like tents or an oasis.

Once the ideas were set, students worked in small groups to start building their prototypes. They painted cardboard for the sky—blue for day and black for night—and used shared materials, taking turns with paint and brushes. To create the oasis, students painted cut paper cups blue. Working together, students helped each other and ensured everyone had a chance to contribute. The diorama creation will continue tomorrow, as students prepare to add more elements to their desert landscapes! ***
