Early Year 1 – English: Space Dough
EY1 joined interesting and joyful activity to learn vocabularies in English lesson which was connected to fine motor activity called space dough. In that lesson, the students were introduced to thematic vocabularies like space, alien, telescope, astronaut, and rocket through the pictures and the sight words. Then, the students were given some play dough to explore. The students were challenged to form the dough into certain shape based on the sight words shown by the teachers. They needed to work together to complete the challenge given.
Recognizing words builds a strong foundation for future literacy by enhancing phonemic awareness, improving vocabulary, and boosting reading comprehension. Meanwhile, the play dough time helps offers several benefits for the students in developing fine motor skills, boosting creativity, stimulating hand-eye coordination, as well as providing a sensory experience. ***
