Early Year 1 – English: Observing plants in the school surroundings
EY1 students were introduced to various types of plants that produce fruits and vegetables that humans can naturally eat, such as apples, mangoes, carrots, lettuce, and tomatoes. They were explained that these are called edible plants, which means they are safe and beneficial for human consumption.
The students then participated in an observation activity around the Aspol area, where they explored and identified different plants. During this activity, students were encouraged to think critically by discussing and determining whether the plants they observed were edible or non-edible.
they also had the opportunity to observe the Primary Building as part of their environmental introduction. This activity was designed to help students become more familiar with the school surroundings and support their transition as they prepare for the next academic year.
Besides developing their understanding of edible plants, this activity also improves students’ observation and critical thinking skills, while helping them become more confident in exploring new environments. Additionally, this experience supports their readiness and helps them adapt smoothly to the upcoming academic year.
