Early Year 1 – English: Muddy Treasure Hunt
Our EY1 students recently enjoyed an exciting sensory activity where they explored the mud to uncover pebbles marked with letters. As each pebble was found, the children identified the letter while engaging multiple senses—touch, sight, and movement—making the learning process both fun and memorable.
Sensory play like this not only sparks curiosity but also supports brain development and strengthens fine motor skills. At the same time, it nurtures confidence and joy in discovery.
Equally important, the activity created a meaningful moment to reinforce healthy habits. After their play, students were guided to wash their hands thoroughly, learning that good hygiene is an essential part of staying healthy. By connecting the excitement of exploration with the practice of self-care, the children gained not only new knowledge but also a valuable life skill they can carry beyond the classroom. ***
