Early Year 1 – English: Kitchen Mud

Early Year 1 – English: Kitchen Mud

EY1 students continued to explore about mud. This time they explored language and sensory play through a hands-on Kitchen Mud activity. Students were then introduced to the Kitchen Mud activity by watching a short video and observing real objects such as mud, a spoon, a bowl, and a cake. The teacher modelled simple sentences like “I see mud” and “This is a spoon,” and students repeated them together.

Students then took part in making food-mud, like adding water, mixing, and adding some natural items. They practised using short sentences such as “I mix” and “This is my cake” while creating their pretend food using real mud. After finishing, students shared their creations and answered simple questions from the teacher.

This activity helped students develop listening and speaking skills, follow simple instructions, build confidence in using new vocabulary, strengthen fine motor skills, and practise social interaction through imaginative play.
