Early Year 1 – English and Math: This is Me
As part of the ongoing theme ‘This is Me,’ EY1 students were guided to talk about their favorite toys. In English class, they were encouraged to observe the differences between the toys they play with now and the ones they used as babies. This comparison helped them reflect on how much they have grown and developed. Although their current games are a bit more challenging, the students truly enjoy them!
They also had the opportunity to share stories with their family members about the toys they love playing with. In the classroom, they practiced positive social skills such as politely borrowing toys from friends and taking responsibility for their own belongings.
During Mathematics lessons, students explored the colours and 2D shapes found in their toys, adding another layer of learning through play. The activity was made even more special by the strong support from parents—every student brought a toy to share, showing wonderful cooperation between home and school. ***
