Baby class – Motoric: Watering Plants
Babies participated in a gardening activity in the outdoor area where they practiced watering plants. During the activity, the babies were given small watering cans and invited to pour water onto the soil and plants. This simple hands-on experience allowed babies to interact directly with nature while enjoying outdoor play.
This activity provided many developmental benefits for the babies. Carrying cans helped strengthen their gross and fine motor skills as well as hand–eye coordination. Being outdoors also stimulated their senses as they observed the soil, plants, and flowing water. In addition, the activity encouraged curiosity and early understanding of how plants need water to grow, introducing babies to basic environmental awareness.
The lasting impact of this activity can be seen in the babies’ growing sense of responsibility and connection with nature. Early experiences caring for plants help nurture empathy, patience, and appreciation for the natural environment.
