Baby Class – Motoric Activity: Feed the Dog
The babies had an activity to explore the playground barefoot. This week they have been learning about Pet. They found a dog toy made of hard box and had to feed the dog using plastic straws and ice cream sticks.
At that time, the babies fine motor skill was stimulated. They had to grab and hold the sticks and straws well and be introduced a simple way of transferring one object to the other place. Eye-hand coordination was also stimulated as they had to see where the hole was for ensuring the straws and sticks inserted well.
This activity was designed for promoting their problem solving skill. At that time, the babies might initially try inserting the stick at the wrong angle or miss the hole. They will learn from their mistakes and adjust their hand movements to succeed. They needed to find their own way for organizing their fingers in holding an object properly.
