Baby Class – Mobility: Spiky Steps Exploration
The babies enjoyed a fun balancing activity using colourful spiky stepping stones during their indoor play session. They focused on keeping their balance while moving slowly from one stone to another, growing more confident with each step.
This activity provided important developmental benefits, especially in strengthening the babies’ gross motor skills and improving their sense of balance. The uneven surfaces encouraged them to use different muscles in their legs and core. At the same time, the sensory texture stimulated their tactile awareness, giving them a meaningful physical experience that supported both movement and sensory growth.
The lasting impact of this activity goes beyond the moment of play. By regularly practicing balancing tasks, the babies build a strong foundation for future physical milestones such as climbing, running, and coordinated movement. These experiences also help them develop courage, resilience, and body awareness—skills that will continue to support their overall development as they grow.
