Baby Class – Manual Activity: Fruit Exploration

This week, the babies started to learn and explored about fruit. They were introduced to some fruits they usually find. At that time, they had a chance to explore orange and banana. They touched the texture of tough, fibrous skin of banana skin, and rough texture of the orange skin. Then the parents assisted them to peeled off those fruit skins for baby Boom and Genius Level. For Baby Tweet Level, they parents helped them to fully peel the skin off. Another exploration conducted was they could taste the banana and orange.

As a part of manual activity, they learnt to move their fingers for accomplishing a certain activity, that was peeling off the fruit skin. Their visual competence was also stimulated as they could see the colours and the shape of the fruit hence their cognitive skill could be developed. They also needed to regulated their patience when they had to eat the fruit, they needed to peel the skin first.

Peeling off fruit skin was very beneficial as it promoted healthy growth and development as fruit contains a lot nutrition. Teacher encouraged them not be a picky eater especially for healthy food. Introducing the colour and shape of the fruits helped them to raise their curiosity as well. Moreover, as a part of manual activity, their fingers coordination was mainly exposed for enhancing the fine motor skill. Stimulating the babies with proper fine motor activity based on their stage will help them to do practical life skill and pre-writing activity.
