Baby Class – Fine Motor: Squeeze it!
The babies in Genius and Boom levels had an exciting opportunity to explore sponges floating on water as part of their sensory and motor skill development. They were introduced to the squishy texture of the sponges, allowing them to engage with the material through touch and observation. This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity and sensory exploration as the babies felt and played with the sponges.
With guidance from their teachers, the babies learned how to squeeze the sponges properly, using their fingers to press and release. This simple yet purposeful activity helped them strengthen their finger muscles, an essential foundation for developing fine motor skills. As they squeezed and observed the water leaving the sponge, they also began to understand cause and effect, fostering cognitive engagement.
This squeezing activity is more than just play—it provides the babies with a meaningful way to develop essential skills. The growth of their fine motor abilities contributes to their overall development, supporting future practical life skills, language skills, and the coordination needed for writing and drawing. Through this interactive and guided exploration, the babies were not only stimulated physically but also cognitively, creating a strong base for further learning and development. ***
