Toddler – Practical Life: Taking Care of the Environment
Exploring the world, both indoors and outdoors, is essential for toddlers’ emotional, social, and physical development. Through these explorations, they not only learn how the world works but also begin to develop a sense of responsibility and concern for their surroundings. In connection with the environmental theme Jungle Area, the Practical Life lesson provided Toddler students with hands-on experience in caring for the environment.
During the activity, students were invited to observe the leaves and flowers scattered around the playground. After a discussion about the importance of keeping the environment clean, the teacher encouraged them to actively participate by cleaning up the playground using dust brooms and dust pans. The toddlers eagerly swept up dried leaves and flowers, fully engaging with the task.
This hands-on interaction not only helped them understand the value of maintaining a clean environment but also began to nurture a sense of care and responsibility toward nature. By participating in simple, environmentally relevant activities, they started to learn how they can contribute to taking care of the planet. It also provided a meaningful way to instill important character traits, such as kindness, respect for nature, and love for the Earth, in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable for young children.***
