Secondary Program

At Focus Independent School (FIS), the Secondary Program gives students space to take greater ownership of their learning. They build knowledge and skills while learning to think critically, collaborate with others, reflect on their experiences, and connect learning with the world around them.

Learning with Purpose
The FIS Secondary Program combines the Cambridge Curriculum with the Indonesian National Curriculum, bringing together an international learning perspective and the requirements of the national education system. Through the Cambridge approach, students develop knowledge, understanding, and transferable skills, while building confidence to engage in different environments. They are also encouraged to use what they learn to make a positive contribution, starting from their own community.

Learning in a Digital World
Technology is part of everyday learning at Secondary. Through IT-based learning, students use digital tools to explore information, develop ideas, collaborate, and create. The focus is not simply on using technology, but on helping students become thoughtful and capable learners in a digital world.

A Milestone Along the Way
As part of their Cambridge Lower Secondary journey, students in Grade 9 take the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. The assessment provides an international benchmark of students’ performance and helps identify areas of strength and areas where further learning can be supported with Cambridge providing individual and school-level feedback that can support the next steps in learning.

More Than What Happens in Class
Learning at FIS does not stop when the lesson ends. Students have opportunities to explore their interests and contribute to school life through activities such as Music Club, Student Escort and more. These experiences give students space to collaborate, take responsibility, discover new interests, and become active members of the school community. Growing for What Comes Next The Secondary Program brings together three areas of development: independent learning and global competence, critical thinking and collaboration in real-world contexts, and social-emotional learning with reflection for real-world impact.

At FIS, Secondary is about giving students the knowledge, skills, confidence, and space to keep growing—ready to learn, adapt, and take part in the world ahead.
