Secondary Level: Phase 1 Book Reference Time
The Phase 1 Book Reference Time (BRT) was a huge hit, turning the Cambridge room into a lively spot for celebrating literature, engaging in discussions and buzzing with excitement. This special event was a big deal for students as they confidently shared the stories and content of the books they had been reading with our awesome Reading Coaches.
The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with smiling faces and a real sense of anticipation. Students were seen carefully picking a Reading Coach, often choosing someone they felt most at ease with—showing a nice personal touch in their learning journey.
At the heart of the BRT was the lively conversation that took place between students and coaches. It was not just a straightforward presentation; it was a real exchange. Students presented their selected book, followed by an engaging Q&A session. This allowed them to dive deeper into the story, clarify complex ideas and express their understanding of the themes and characters.
This Phase 1 BRT has clearly shown that it is more than just an assessment. It initially shows student growth, serving as a tool for enhancing comprehension, as the discussions required students to grasp and articulate the content. Plus, stepping up to present and confidently tackle questions in front of a coach really boosts their confidence, while the exchange of questions and explanations sharpened their communication skills, teaching them to express their thoughts clearly, logically and persuasively. Hats off to all the participating students for their inspiring enthusiasm and commitment! ***
