Secondary 3 – Science Practical Exam: Electricity
Secondary 3 students did the Practical test for the Science lesson on 6th May 2024. The topic for the Practical exam was electricity circuits. The worksheet provided had 3 scenarios for the activities. Students decided on their own 2 from 3 scenarios for the test. Students managed the electricity tools needed in the laboratory. They made the series circuit and parallel circuit according to the scenario chosen.

The scenarios were:
Scenario 1:
You have a circuit with one battery connected to three light bulbs. If one light bulb goes out, the other two remain lit.Is this circuit a series circuit (S) or a parallel circuit (P)?Draw a diagram representing the circuit.Label each component in the circuit.Explain why the other two light bulbs remain lit when one goes out.
Scenario 2:
You have a circuit with two batteries. Each battery is connected to its own light bulb.Is this circuit a series circuit (S) or a parallel circuit (P)?Draw a diagram representing the circuit.Label each component in the circuit.Explain what happens to the brightness of the light bulbs if one battery is removed from the circuit.

Scenario 3:
You have a circuit with one battery connected to two light bulbs. However, each light bulb has its own separate switch. Is this circuit a series circuit (S) or a parallel circuit (P)?Draw a diagram representing the circuit.Label each component in the circuit.Explain what happens to each light bulb if you turn off one of the switches.
They gained valuable experience by managing their time, thinking critically during testing, and being independent learners. Overall, the test was fun and challenging.
