Secondary 3 Playscript Project
Secondary 3 students explored complex themes through the study of William Shakespeare’s works, one of the world’s most influential writers. Through research and discussion, students learned how Shakespeare’s stories examined universal human themes such as loyalty, pride, and ambition through complex and relatable characters.
After studying Shakespeare’s works and their impact on world literature, students were grouped to discuss a chosen theme and create their own playscript. Before beginning the task, they learned about the key features of a playscript, helping them develop a deeper understanding of dramatic writing.
Once their scripts were completed, the students revised their work and participated in a table read session, where they read and acted out their playscripts together.
These activities helped students strengthen their critical thinking skills as they explored themes and exchanged ideas with their peers. They also enhanced their writing skills through playscript writing and improved their reading and speaking skills during the table read performances.
