Secondary 3 – Maths: Pythagoras Proofing
How do you get from the first floor to a new multifunction court—stairs, a ramp, or a ladder?
Secondary 3 students tackled this exact architectural challenge to kick off their study of Pythagoras’ Theorem! By analyzing the horizontal distance, vertical height, and ramp lengths required for the court, students connected real-world space to mathematical theory.
Instead of just memorizing the formula, the class dove into both algebraic and geometric proofs to understand why the formula works. Next up: returning to the court site to apply their mathematical proofs and design the ultimate access route!
