Secondary 3 – Leapro: Eco Friendly Product: Identifying Harmful vs. Safe Ingeredients for a Greener Future.
Secondary 3 students engaged in Leapro activities focused on Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products, which incorporated elements of Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Mandarin. This initiative aimed to inform students about the significance of environmentally sustainable products and their effects on human health and ecological balance.
Eco-friendly products are specifically formulated to enhance health and environmental well-being by utilizing safe, non-toxic materials that exert minimal adverse effects on ecosystems. In the preliminary stage, students were encouraged to differentiate between synthetic and natural chemicals. They examined the components of commonly used household cleaning products found in school and at home. This exploration enabled students to categorize materials as either synthetic or natural, while also gaining insights into the advantages and consequences of each type on health and the environment.
Subsequently, students were tasked with generating questions based on their acquired knowledge. These inquiries will serve as a foundation for delving deeper into the concept of eco-friendly products in subsequent activities, as well as validating the student’s comprehension of the material presented.
This activity represents a crucial first step in igniting students’ interest in eco-friendly products. It is anticipated that this experience will enhance their understanding of responsible consumerism, thereby empowering them to contribute to environmental sustainability. ***
