Secondary 3 – English: Peer Feedback in Writing
Secondary 3 students learned to write a detective story. They learned the strategy to build suspense and to create effect using characterization. Then, the students were asked to apply the strategy in their writing. They were asked to write a detective story where the character was called to solve a hit-and-run case. Here, the students had to create a sketch or draft before writing. In the sketch, they had to think about how the accident happened and the evidence.
Next, the students had to develop the story based on the clues used to reveal the case. After the students finished their writing, they were asked to give peer feedback. They had to display their work on the class board/wall for the rest of the class to read the story. This detective story writing enables students to learn critical thinking and problem-solving skills. ***
