Secondary 3 – English: Interviewing 7 International Students

Secondary 3 writers transformed their memoir unit into a dynamic global exchange through “Voices Across Borders”—an exclusive cross-cultural interview event!

Serving as living books, seven international students from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS)—representing Pakistan, Madagascar, Nigeria, Myanmar, Syria, and Sudan—joined the class to share their personal journeys. S3 journalists moved past basic background facts to investigate the core of memoir storytelling: pivotal turning points. They probed deeply into how their guests navigated major life transitions, adapted to Indonesian culture, and built personal resilience.

By gathering real-world human stories, S3 students sharpened their narrative structure skills while developing essential capacities in active listening, qualitative research, global empathy, and evidence-based storytelling!
