Secondary 3 – Biology: Biodiversity Of Papua
Papua, Indonesia, is home to one of the most biodiverse forests on Earth, with almost half of Indonesia’s total biodiversity and a significant portion of the world’s remaining tropical forests. Papua has as many as 20,000 plant species, 602 birds, 125 mammals, and 223 reptiles. Introducing Secondary-3 students to Papua’s biodiversity can help them appreciate the value of natural resources and the need to protect them. We talk about endemic fauna and flora such as Wallaby, Cendrawasih, Wati, Musa Ingens, etc. Also, the unique anthill is made by termites called Musamus. ***
