Secondary 3 and EY: Collaborative Reading Program
The school recently held a collaborative Reading Program involving Secondary 3 students and EYP students. The activity aimed to develop literacy, confidence, communication, and positive interaction through engaging storytelling and creative activities.
During the program, Secondary 3 students took on the roles of storytellers and reading buddies. They shared age-appropriate stories using expressive voices, puppet shows, mini role play, and creative handmade headbands that matched their story characters. Their enthusiastic performances created a fun and interactive atmosphere for the EYP students.
After listening to the stories, the EYP students were encouraged to share their own stories while the Secondary 3 students listened attentively and provided support through simple questions and positive encouragement. This activity helped younger students feel more confident and comfortable expressing their ideas.
The session ended with a bookmark colouring activity where students enjoyed working creatively together. Through this collaborative Reading Program, students not only strengthened their literacy and communication skills, but also built meaningful connections across different age groups in a warm and supportive environment.
