Secondary-2 : Water Filter Experiment
Secondary 2 students experimented in the laboratory with separating insoluble solids in liquid using a simple filtration method. They set up filtration tools using materials like plastic bottles, filter paper, sand, and cotton. Students also prepared a mixture of dirt and water as a sample to be filtered. They successfully filtered out the mixture to obtain clean and more precise water as the filtrate. In the experiment, they also gained supporting data by measuring the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of the initial clean water, the mixture of dirt and water, and the filtrate with a TDS meter to compare the number of particles dissolved in those 3 samples. It was a fun activity and hopefully would strengthen their understanding of separation and purification. ***
