Secondary 2 – Maths: Area of Trapezium and Parallelogram
In the maths lesson, Secondary 2 students studied the area of trapezoids and parallelograms. From the concepts they learned about the area of triangle, rectangle, and square, the students tried to derive the formula for the area of parallelogram and trapezium.
The teacher then asked them to use the formula to calculate the area of a parallelogram and a trapezium. The teacher placed various trapeziums and parallelograms on the floor and asked the students to measure each side and then calculate the area.
This simple activity can certainly facilitate the different learning styles of the students, both visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Replacing written questions with this activity will certainly provide a brain-friendly learning experience. ***
